These are a few of our favorite things...

Reasons why CBBA is so great!!

The Food! We Eat Fresh!!
Here is what our counter looks like after a day at the market!
Figs, Avocados, tomatoes, mango, papaya, pineapple, starfruit, beans, cilantro, corn, green beans, and broccoli! All this for around $5!! HA!

Did I mention it is mango and avocado season here?? YUMMY Next month....PEACHES!!

Keeping up with the Eagles and Phillies!! GO PHILLIES! And as pictured below, John being glued to the IRONMAN for 10 hours!! Shout out to James Bales!! Best triathlete we know! Way to go JB!

We got a GRILL!! Our first cook out. Trying to make friends and speak Spanish. After a few hours I had to go and take a nap. My brain can't handle the Spanish for long periods of time!

The view from out our window while laying in bed.

Mayonnaise works so well in those small personal squeeze packs that you get at restaurants...why not make a life sized squeeze pack for home! Thank you CBBA!! Now I can get every last drop!

Our neighborhood! These friends live on our street! The little one in the middle uses John as a Jungle Gym and gives the hardest high-fives in town!

Little shepherd girl with sheep in the road, while walking to our neighbors!

Last but not least!! OUR Favorite, besides Drew and Ann is.....

Guacamole, Baby!! We probably make it fresh 2-3 times a week!

As we find more favorites, we will let you know!

October!

October is hands down our favorite month. And well, it being spring and all down here, October is just not the same. SAD!!

Things we really miss:
1. Leaves.
2. The smell of October.
3. Apple Cider
4. Fall Festivals- Corn mazes and Hay rides!!
5. Fall BEER!! (okay, just Jenny!)
6. Kettle Corn
7. Bonfires
8. Pumpkin patches
9. Wearing obscene amounts of the color orange, and it's okay.
10. FOOTBALL..really. Oh how I long for Sunday Afternoons, right after bible study, buckets of chicken, and football.

If you are experianceing any of these fun things...please send us pictures so we can live vicariously through you.
Thank you.

Seriously...send pictures.

"Only YOU can prevent forest fires!"

So there is this mountain behind our house. And there is only one way to see if we have really adjusted to living a 9,000+ feet....

We were off on a 2 hour+ journey to the top! Plenty of water and a picnic lunch with our eyes focused on the top.

It looked so much smaller from home?

Halfway.....

A little further....

The top!- or at least as far as our legs could carry us!

The other week there was bad fire on the Mt. As seen here. It was so close to us that ash was blowing in our home.

On the way down we met the man who owned the ridge we hiked. He was 87 years old. Cutest old man of all time! And he was out plowing the field. It is a 2 hour hike for him UP A MOUNTAIN and he carries his lunch and all of his equipment???
In the fire he lost a ton of timber (eucalyptus trees) Trees that he planted over 40 years ago, some when he was a small boy!
All that work, GONE. So he just started over?

Today, Ann and I went and visited some neighbors. A woman with 6 kids, who lives in a 2 room home. She and her kids always have a smile on their face, always so friendly. I really like this family and hope to spend more time with the 2 older girls. We also visited a Ketchwa woman. She is going to make us quilts for our beds. She has sheep, cuts her own wool, dyes it, and weaves it. I can't even make those stupid braided friendship bracelets?? Amazing!

I have so much respect for the people we have met here in our neighborhood. I am excited to hear more of their stories, maybe learn a few things about life.
