The Jungle

Last weekend we headed for the Jungle for a quick vacation! We had monkeys climbing on us, saw toucans, and got pina coladas served in coconuts at the "swim-up" bar. It was the coolest thing! Jenny and Robert ordered pina coladas, and a pool boy climbed a tree and got two coconuts...The next thing we know we are enjoying a frosty beverage in a fresh coconut? It was pretty darn cool.
We definitely like taking advantage of these things! One thing is for sure, we are far, far away from home.

A Picnic at 17,500 feet

Last weekend we had the pleasure of hiking up to the highest peak in Cochabamba, Mount Tunari, It was darn cool. We got a bus early in the morning that took us for a long ride. We went as far as a holey, bumpy dirt road could take us, and then the driver simply stopped the bus, and our hike began. It was fun, snow all around, and we just walked. Walking and hiking- nothing much to say, we just walked. It was hard, real hard for some people in our group, but WE ALL MADE IT!!! We ate on the peak, took great pics, enjoyed the views, and then....walked down.

Okay Honey. It was so much more then just walking!!! Do you remember all that we saw? Llamas, small villages, almost driving off the side of a cliff, thunder clouds all around, and a condor flying over us (which by the way, is very good luck according to the Incas!) And, Yes! The "walk" was hard for some. At that altitude, you have to breath with every step you take and you can get really dizzy! Anyway, I thought it was pretty incredible!

Our view from the bus on the way up!!

Where we started the hike on foot for the next 3 hours!

On the way down! Thunder was echoing all around us as the rain tried to catch us! One minute sunny and 70, then snow and 30s. Followed by storms that appeared out of NOWHERE?
